Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2017 Ford Escape

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ford Escape, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 trailer brake controller from one to four axles. That's going to be part number 90195.To help us with our installation, we're going to be using the universal installation kit for trailer brake controllers with the seven way RV and four way flat connector. And that's going to be part number ETBC7.So here's what our PS is going to look like once we have it installed. It is going to be a nice, slim, compact unit and the display's going to be extremely easy to see and make it very easy to use as well. Now the P3's a proportional brake controller, which means that it's going to apply the brakes on our trailer at the same time and intensity that we apply them in our Escape. So if we ease into a stop coming to a stop light, our trailer brake controller is going to ease into it. But if we come to a panic stop and slam on the brakes, our brake controller's going to put that exact same amount of power. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2008 Ford Escape

Today on our 2008 Ford Escape we'll be installing the Tekonsha Primus IQ trailer brake controller, part number TK90160. Now this button on top here is our boost control. This will adjust how much brake power goes to our brakes when we are towing heavier loads. We're going to dial up our boost level settings as appropriate to give us more power. Basically what that means is that the boost settings will give you more intense braking faster than if you had the boost levels turned off. Now, if you want to adjust your braking power, you turn it all the way down off so when I hit our manual lever here, you can see we have no assist. We had it all the way up to 11. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2013 Ford Escape

Today, on our 2013 Ford Escape, we'll be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, 1 to 4 axles, proportional. It is Part #90195, and we'll also be using the ETBC7 Connector to ease our installation. The ETBC7 kit comes with this nice bracket here, to mount the 7-pole round connector that our trailer brake controller will be using. As you can see on our hitch right here, there's a nice mounting point for it, so I'm going to go ahead and star the installation by securing it with the included screw and washer on the bottom. Then we'll use the star lock washer, and the nut. Screw it on around. more

It gives you a lot of options as to where you can mount your controller and all your other parts. Now, our button on the left side is our sensitivity controller. The heavier your load, the higher you want to rate this. It's got seven settings, so if you have a really heavy load you want to have it up on seven. more
